The Circus Breakfast of Champions!

My kids are participating in a
TOTALLY COOL, UTTERLY ROCKIN'
"WHY DIDN'T I GET TO DO THIS WHEN I WAS LITTLE?"
kind of camp this week.

It is a CIRCUS camp.

A circus training troupe came up here
from Florida
and are staying for a week
and training the kids in various circus activities.

Here is a small demo video
similar to what they are (will be) doing:

So, this morning, I get up and go to wake the kids
so they can get ready for their
SECOND day of circus camp.

I meet Chris in the hallway.

He is stumbling toward my room,
walking slope shouldered
and with an odd gait.

He sees me and begins whimpering.

"My..my..my SHOULDER!!" he squeaks,
and begins crying.

I take a look and the kid
has a rock hard muscle mass
from his neck all the way down to his shoulder.

He winces at my touch.

I help Chris get dressed,
we get Trey up
and then I send Trey to wake Kate up
while I lead the still-whimpering Chris downstairs.

Getting Chris settled at the island,
I pull out the Icy-Hot.

"No! No!...it BUUUUUUUURRRNNNNNNNS!"
squealed Chris.

I think he would have bolted, but he was too sore.

"We'll just do it for a little while
and then I'll wipe it off.
It will help warm up your muscle
and loosen it up so it won't be so tight and sore,"
I assured him.

Around that time, Kate comes slumping into the kitchen
and sits, visibly wincing.

I start cracking up.
The circus dude told us that there would be bumps
and bruises and sore muscles, and Lordy, he was not kidding!

By this time, Chris is starting to shout
about his shoulder being on fire,
so I talk him down for a couple of minutes
and then give up and wipe him down.

I fed them and then gave the two older kids narcotics
and sent them all on their way to day two of Circus camp.

Yep, it's the BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS!

I bet they are going to sleep well this week! What a fun camp.. even if it does leave them a little banged up.

Too funny! You're like me...no matter how much complaining, no matter how sore you are, nothing you could say would keep you from going BACK to camp today!

The idea of a circus camp is awesome! I've never heard of such a thing, but it just sounds so wonderful!

Seriously, the whole circus camp sounds like such fun!! I'm sure that once their bruised little bodies got used to the pain (or the drugs kicked in, whichever!) they could really enjoy it!!
How cool is it that there is something like that to do during the summer!!
A little bit of me is jealous!!

Leeann!!! How totally cool is that. Wow! I've never heard of anything like it.

I have to ask - did you have the Icy Hot on hand or did you buy it in preparation for this week? :)

That looks fabulous! I wish they'd come here. :)

I bet the pain is totally worth the experience in the end!
