MENU PLAN MONDAY AND BUSTED!!

So Chris and Trey were downstairs this evening,
watching Spongebob Squarepants
after taking their showers.

I asked my husband, Rob, to ask them if they brushed their teeth.

He went over to the loft, asked them,
then came back and reported that yes, they had brushed their teeth.

After a minute or so, I looked up and asked him to ask them again.
I did not remember any tooth brushing going on!

He went to the loft, asked them again and came back, reporting that yes, they were sure they had brushed their teeth.

I went back to what I was doing but I couldn't escape the nagging feeling..

"Hey Rob, could you do me a favor?" I asked my husband.
"Could you get the toothbrushes from the kids' bathroom?"

"Sure," he replied, got them, and brought them over.

I felt each of the four toothbrushes.

You guessed it.
All four BONE DRY.

I went to the loft.

"BOYS!" I thundered.
"Turn that TV off and come upstairs RIGHT NOW!"

In mere seconds, they were up the stairs and in my bedroom.

When they were standing in front of me,
I held up the four toothbrushes,
fixed them with the Stink Eye
and said,
"Show me the toothbrush you used to brush your teeth!"

Mouths agape,
their eyes darted from toothbrush to toothbrush.
The whites of their eyes were showing as they realized they'd been caught and there was no way out.

They each chose a toothbrush,
praying to God, I'm sure, that somehow they would
be lucky and choose a damp one.

"Tell me, how did you brush your teeth
but the toothbrush is completely dry and clean?"

No answer, just guilty gazes and shifting feet.

Twenty minutes later,
two little boys are tucked into bed,
slightly weepy.

They have no electronic privileges
or dessert for the next two days
and they had to go to bed early.

But, damn it,
their teeth are squeaky clean!!

That is too funny about the toothbrushes. Kids!

As for your menu, I will be over every night. LOL! The crabcakes really sound good, but alas, I missed those. Darn it!

Oh that story is too funny! You verify things with boys like I do. Why is it with boys, you always want more proof than just their word? Hahaha

I love the stinkeye comment! :) Your menu looks great, I need some pointers on how to stock my freezer and pantry, I think!

I love, love, LOVE your new look!!!!!! Way cute!

You are so funny when you describe incidents with your kids. You should write a book about mothering - it would be hysterical!

Sometimes playing "bad cop" doesn't really take much effort, does it?!?! :-D
There is a bit of comfort knowing that my kids are not the only ones trying to get away with stuff like that!!
