Somehow I forgot to wish everyone
a Happy February yesterday!
I hope January was good
and that February is at least as good
if not even better!
Rob and I had a nice long talk today
about shifting our collective consciousness.
I have felt very strongly
that I need to shift my values,
clarify what is important to me in my life
and declutter my mind and my surroundings.
This covers the obvious,
such as reducing material clutter in the home
and cutting back on consumerism and materialism
and this is a work in progress.
I started this the last few months of last year
and it is scary how little of a dent I have made so far.
Baby steps.
Also, Rob and I mutually agree
that we are tired of worrying about finances,
repeating the same mistakes year after year
and then wondering how we are in the same boat.
Well, duh.
So together we discussed changes we can make
to turn this ship around
and get on a more even course.
Some ideas will be taken from
Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace
and some will come naturally as we work the
less-consumerism and materialism angle.
(This blog is interesting regarding that!)
In conjunction with this, we will be simplifying our lives,
distilling where our priorities and goals lie
and then eliminating the extra "junk" and obstacles
that get in the way of the life we want to lead.
This is the only life we have.
Lately we've been frittering it away,
longing for changes but not stepping up
to implement them.
This is our year.

I feel like this alot too, Leeann. I know what I want to do, but actually implementing it seems to be the problem. I hope you and Rob find the right path for your family.
It's so hard to change ourselves! I hope that you will be blogging about the things you are doing.
Very thought-provoking post. For Lent I will be studying "The Centered Life" by Jack Fortin. I am hoping it will help me in this area as well.
