Trey and the Meaning of Life

My youngest child is finishing preschool this week.

We were sitting in the car the other day
and I heard him singing.
My kids sit around singing a lot
so at first I didn't pay much attention.

After a bit, I realized he was singing
Natasha Bedingfield's song
"Unwritten"
and quite accurately, too!

I was impressed and asked him about it
at which point he told me they would be singing
it in his school end of year program.

Okay, so he is not the genius I thought he was
but still, it is really cute and great lyrics
for a child.

So, here he is,
Trey, age 5, singing "Unwritten".

Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten Lyrics

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips

Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Okay, WAY CUTE!!!! He really has the "style" of the song down pat. And I love at the end when he gives his age... ummm.... 86? Wise beyond his years!

That was so amazing. I think he can carry a tune better than me! I love this song.

Way to go, Trey!
