Christmas Meme

I took this from Swistle! Thanks!

Eggnog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate although I make a good homemade egg nog.

Does Santa wrap the presents or leave them open under the tree? Ah, this was one of those things.. Rob's family wrapped ALL gifts and NOTHING was under the tree until Christmas morning. My family put all the gifts under the tree all month long and only Santa's gifts showed up, unwrapped, on Christmas morning. And upon marriage, the two cultures collided! I conceded mostly at first but slowly I started sneaking a few things under the tree. Fast forward to the present, there are LOTS of gifts under the tree, all family gifts, including gifts FROM the kids to others. The Santa gifts will appear under the tree Christmas morning but ALAS! They will be wrapped as well. A new tradition born after a hard labor.

Colored lights on a tree or white? White on the big tree, colored on the small tree. There's no small tree this year though because we were having some construction done.

Do you hang mistletoe? No.

When do you put your decorations up? Usually the first week in December. Rob is the decorator and he is damn good at it. I don't really dig doing it but I like doing the cooking, so it evens out!

What is your favorite holiday dish? Gosh, I love it all. We've tended toward keeping the turkey at Thanksgiving and now we usually do crab cakes and tenderloin for Christmas day. My favorites include the desserts- this year we are having Whiskey cake and homemade Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce! SO GOOD!

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yep, well the kids do. Usually something sleep related. It used to be pajamas but the boys aren't pajama wearers anymore.

How do you decorate your Christmas tree? The kids did it this year. Usually they do the small tree but like I said.. so they did the big tree and they did a nice job of it! I love remembering the meaning of each ornament.

Snow: love it or hate it? Love. Love love love. And I am even saying that after four days of it here and school being canceled for two. THAT is love!

Can you ice skate? Nope. I mean, I don't fall down but I creep around like a little old lady. No, I'm not. Shut up.

What is your favorite holiday dessert? Bread pudding with vanilla sauce! I could make myself sick on that stuff!

What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas eve. We make big thermoses of hot cocoa and drive through the hospital Christmas light display. The kids find the hidden letters and we try to solve the puzzle. Then we come home, they open their Christmas eve gift. Then I read our Christmas books and we put out cookies for Santa and cheese for Santa Mouse.

Candy canes: yum or yuck? Yuck.

Favorite Christmas show? The Year there was no Santa Claus (is that the one with Heat Miser and Cold Miser?), Christmas Story movie and Elf.

Go on.. Use the Meme! You know you want to!

Gifts are under our tree now but the Santa gifts arrive after the kiddos hit the sack. We do pjs on xmas eve too. I love that you still read to the kids. I'm glad to hear that doesn't get old. Have you tried swirling candy canes in hot cocoa?

Merry Christmas!

I would love the bread pudding recipe too! I have to bring dessert to a party tomorrow night and it would be perfect.
