Catching Up and NoBloPoMo (say what?)

First of all,
this will either make you happy
or make you want to barf, depending..
but November will kick off the 30 posts in 30 days Challenge.
This will be my third year of participating in NoBloPoMo
and it is always good for me to develop the discipline to post daily.
I hope you will be here to join me every day in November!
And every now and again, please leave a comment.
You'd be surprised how that small moment that you take
can make a blogger's day brighter!
-----------------------------------

I was thinking today that having older kids is, in many ways,
so much EASIER.
Certainly, some things are harder and more challenging,
but other things are a world away from the difficulties they used to be.

Today, I have all three kids home sick.

Contrary to what it would seem,
none of them have the flu.
Instead, it appears that they each have a very mild
touch of "Stomach Ick" that they picked up from Rob,
who must have picked it up traveling.

However, it has been a total non-event.
Only one kid has even needed to run to the bathroom
and that was just a couple of times this morning.
All three have enjoyed room service, unlimited movies
and laying around in their beds.
Trey has read me a book,
Kate is texting with her friends to find out the homework she will have,
and Chris just ate peanut butter crackers and a banana.

I have enjoyed a quiet day as well,
mixed in with care-taking, cleaning the kitchen and two loads of laundry.

Yes, by and large, my kids can now take care of basic issues by themselves
when they are sick
and they are appreciative of a little loving care
and some fresh Redbox movies and Gatorade.

Each kid was assigned a color
and that has been their plate, bowl and spoon for the day
(rinsed between meals, of course.)
Each child also has a Camelbak bottle with Gatorade by their bed.

Who ever knew that a "sick day" could also be a relaxing, kind of FUN day?

You are such a good mom! Lucky kids.

I will be doing Noblopomo too. Although I really have nothing to say lately. Should be an interesting month. :-)

You're such a good mom. That is nice when they can tend to themselves but I bet you snuck in some Mom-TLC too. Hope they are better soon.

I love what you said about leaving a comment! Yes, that certainly does make a blogger's day.

I have 3 children slowly able to do more and more independently. I am very thankful everyone knows to NOT throw up in their bed. Run, run, run, or use the Target bag Daddy tied to the bed post. Hope your kiddoes feel better soon!
