Almost Back to School time

Ah yes, I can almost smell the sweet scent of freedom in the air..
can almost hear the silence..
can almost imagine cleaning the kitchen after breakfast
(without tripping over shoes in the process)
and having it STAY THAT WAY until the late afternoon!

I am almost hyperventilating at the very thought.
With joy, mind you.

In the meantime, we are being "orientated" within an inch of our lives.

Every day or evening, a new school to go to,
a class schedule to get, a new classroom to see.

Yesterday, Trey's class list and teacher was posted.
I was thrilled to see who his teacher was and who is in his class.
It bodes well for my busy, social little man.

Tonight we head off to the middle school for Chris.
Bless his heart, he is just like his sister was,
all freaking out about the lockers and
OMG!! What if I can't open my LOCKER?
What if I am late to CLASS?
ANXIETY!!!!

So tonight I will take the dutifully filled out emergency cards,
which we will turn in in exchange for his schedule, locker and locker combo.
Then, we will stand outside his locker and have lock practice,
over and over and over again.

+++++++++++++++

Today I was driving home from the bookstore,
when a van drove past
driven by a nun in full white habit.
It was the same type of van that I drive,
right down to the color.

I have no idea why that shocked me so much
but it really freaked me the hell out!

Ugh.. locker anxiety. Ian actually refused to EVER use a locker because of it. Nuns always freak me out... probably some throwback to my mother's catholic school upbringing. But one driving through my neighborhood in my car would definitely give me the willies.

I'm so glad someone else is looking forward to the kids going to school. Other mothers say they're sad! Makes me feel kinda bad. OK, not. Makes me think they're whacko!
