Disappointed in My Sister's Keeper

The great yet disconcerting thing about summer
is that I never know what day it is.
Throw in a long holiday weekend and I am REALLY lost!
I kept wondering why Rob was still around today
and not at work. ;-)

After some weeks of pure laziness
and lack of focus,
I have started getting the meal train going again.

The past few nights we have had:

Teriyaki chicken legs with corn on the cob
Porterhouse steaks (4.99$/lb!) with au gratin potatoes and baby peas
Artichoke pasta.

To use leftover, unused items,
I have made a ham and cheese bread pudding for breakfast tomorrow
and I am also making several batches of homemade blueberry muffins tomorrow.

For later this week, we are having:

pasta carbonara
salsa chicken roll ups
tacos/ taco salad
spaghetti
homemade chicken tenders.

For any of you Jodi Picoult fans,
let my advice be heard far and wide!
You should NOT go see My Sister's Keeper!

OMG! I was like "What?" "HUH?"
and finally felt like standing up and screaming at the screen:
"DID YOU PEOPLE EVEN FRIGGIN' READ THE BOOK??"

It was that far off base.

The character development in the movie was poor
and it felt horribly disjointed.

Read the book if you haven't and ignore the movie.
It just plain sucked.

Thanks for the warning Leeann. I hadn't planned on seeing the movie because the book was a little too emotional for me but it's interesting to know that they could be that far off.

I have to say, I'm not surprised. I read the book and loved it. I wasn't planning to see the movie because it's almost always certain disappointment to read a book then see the movie. The last movie I saw after reading the book was A Walk to Remember. I was so mad after seeing that movie..it was the last time I'll do that.

Your meals sound yummy! Thanks for posting.

Interesting take on the movie. The preview made me cry! I was worried about seeing the whole movie. Ha! Of course, I haven't read the book so does that mean I might enjoy the movie??

You know, as soon as I heard Cameron Diaz was going to play the mom I knew that it was a bad sign. First off, waay too young to have a 17 year old daughter (I think that's how old she was in the book). And secondly, I don't think she has the gravitas to play a role as heart-wrenching as this.

I just always think the book is better than the movie - it's a given. Emily was so disappointed with the Twilight movie - I told her to get used to it if she planned on seeing movies of books she's read. Sad, but true.
