Sometimes you've got to wonder what goes on
in the mind of a dog.
Gracie has this nifty trick.
She lies at the bottom of the step...
for an unsuspecting sap to fall over her.
This is an especially useful trick in the middle of the night,
This is an especially useful trick in the middle of the night,
when it is totally dark in the house.
I've learned to feel around with my toe before taking that last step
because she WILL NOT MOVE.
WHO, ME?!

My Gracie does the same thing directly under my feet no matter where I'm sitting. Every time I get up I trip over the darn dog.
Hey Leeann, you do realize she is there at the bottom of the steps to protect you guys right? I bet she wouldn't let a stranger anywhere near those bedrooms in the middle of the night. Good doggie! My dog just lays on the step somewhere in the middle. If someone tried to get upstairs, she would just lick their foot as they stepped over her. The cat on the other hand would stretch at just the right moment causing you to lose your balance and fall down the stairs...Just saying.
She has such a sweet face...I think it'd be hard to be upset. I have to agree with Nic - she's protecting you all. Good dog!
My dog, Grover, does something similar -- he lays on the floor on my side of the bed at the foot of the bed and positions his head against the chest of drawers that is against the wall and his butt against the leg of the bed. Totally body-blocking me in so that I have to step over him if I get out of bed at night. He's the same color as the wood floor, so I have to do the "toe feelie" thing, too. :)
I think she's laying at the body of the stairs to protect you guys from anyone going UP the stairs !!! That was my first thought when I saw here laying there !! What a good guard dog !! Although ... she is very cute and I think her sweet little face is far from 'guard dog' !!!
Dang she's cute!!!
She's a great and GORGEOUS watch dog! Her precious face reminds me of one of my calico cats!
Awwww! Wat a cuteie pie she is!! (and I'm so in awe of and coveting that camera of yours!)
