from a L-O-N-G rainy drive from Rhode Island.
Hours in the car,
a quick stop off at Costco for milk and gas ($1.99/gallon!)
Exhaustion settling in
heavy on my shoulders and eyelids.
Arriving home,
I was greeted in warm welcome
with hugs and kisses galore,
red carnations
and a card written and signed by three of the most loving children ever.
A cake handmade by my daughter,
excited voices talking in unison about their week
and waving report cards in the air with an air of triumph.
Even as I miss Nathaniel's downy baby head,
squeaks and milky goodness,
It is wonderful and so right
to be back with my *own* babies again.
