Farewell, Lucinda Hamlet

Kate's beloved hamster, Lucy
(otherwise known as Lucy, the Wonder Winnie-pig)
is no longer with us.

She has crossed the veil to the other side.

We aren't certain of the reason
for her demise
but sadness reigned Supreme in our house last night.

Even I was sad.

For even though she had the stinkiest cage
in all of the East Coast
(even though it was changed twice a week)
and even though she had red eyes which I found terribly alarming,
she was an incredibly sweet hamster.
She was adorable in her little ball
and was very cuddly.

And, it isn't every day that a hamster
takes on a Greyhound and survives to tell the tale,
thus earning "Wonder Pig" status.

Our freezer door is now doubling as the Local Morgue,
as it contains a zip-locked Lucy
as well as a zip-locked Louis the Beta Fish,
now awaiting a double burial ceremony.

In our memories and in our hearts,
long live Lucinda Hamlet,  the Wonder Winnie Pig!

I'm sorry to hear about Lucy your pet. I'm sure she holds a special place in all your hearts and will not be forgotten.

I'm so sorry to hear about Lucy. Ironically the teacher I share a classroom with came in this morning and told me that their hamster died last night too.

It's always sad when a pet dies.

I'm so sorry to hear that Lucy is gone. We lost a hermit crab last week and I'm afraid I was the only person who was sad about it...

Sorry to hear about your hamster. I think I'm more attached to our guinea pig than anyone else in the house. I never thought about burial arrangements. I couldn't just throw him in the garbage, but the freezer kind of creeps me out. I guess i am hoping when he passes it's not winter!
