Photos - Food P0rn and Cherry Tree!

The last time I did my Menu Plan Monday,
I tried some new recipes.
Here are a couple of pictures
along with reviews:

Snickerdoodle cookies:

Yum! Don't these look divine?

I would make them bigger and thicker next time
so that they are softer,
because I like softer cookies.
The flavor was very good!

Blueberry muffins:

These were also good.

I think the kids were kind of "eh"
over the lemon zest flavor of them.
The box is still more convenient
but these were a nice change of pace.

Corn bacon chowder:

Too corny for us.

I think I would like it better
as a broth or cream based soup
with potatoes, corn and bacon,
rather than creamed corn being the base.
The kids gave this one a thumbs down.

...And a cherry tree:
This is the view from my bedroom
and bathroom
in the mornings.

You can't help but love the day
when it looks as beautiful as this.

Have a good one!

Leeann, snickerdoodle cookies are one of my favorites(despite the fact that the are not chocolate). The first time I bought snickerdoodle cookies, I was really disappointed to find that they are not made from snickers bars. lol Anyhoe...Share your recipe. I have to admit though, I am of the hard and crunchy cookie variety type. So I dont know how much I would like the chewy variety. Probably get around that by adding melted butter instead of using shortening. If that is what you used! I have no idea.

Okay, now I'm hungry. I love snickerdoodles but my live-in pastry chef only makes chocolate chip cookies.

I took cherry blossom pictures yesterday but haven't posted them yet. Of course mine don't have the lovely, sunny backdrop. We have snow predicted for sunday!!! (I doubt it will happen but it's still insane to predict it.)

Brace yourself. The dip recipe is one of this "grandma" style ones that you just add stuff until it's how you want it. But, try this:

1 8 oz. brick of cream cheese, softened

milk

onion (regular yellow or white), diced, minced, chopped--whatever size you want

parsley flakes

salt

Add milk to the cream cheese and mix them together until you get the right consistency for dip--basically so you won't break your chips off in the dip.

Mix in your onion--however much you want, your parsley flakes--however much you want, and salt to taste (I like a lot of salt).

It's best if you can refrigerate it for at least an hour. It may thicken and you may need to add some more milk to avoid chip breakage.

Delish with regular potato chips. If I'm feeling really outrageous, I use a few Fritos. Crazy, I know.
