Ideas for New Orleans

Rob and I are headed out to New Orleans
next week for three and a half days.

My mom will be here watching the kids
(thanks, Mom!).

So far I have loosely planned some activities:

a swamp tour
a post-Katrina tour
a session at the New Orleans School of Cooking.

We also plan to walk around the French Quarter,
Jackson Square and visit to Cafe du Monde for some beignets.

What other suggestions do you have
for our time in New Orleans?

I'm sorry. I have no idea. New Orleans is probably the last place i would choose to go to. But I guess if I did go, I would want to try to find some really authentic restaurant for some good spicy food. Some sort of shrimp probably!

1. Eating pralines.
2. Touring old graveyards. They are supposed to be magical in NO.
3. Eating pralines.

That's all I've got. Sorry!

Definitely the cooking school...I have never been, but a very good friend went and did a couple of days at a school about20 years ago...our family has "adopted" the recipe she gave me for gumbo as our own....It would be quite a tasty time, me thinks!!
Have a wonderful time...I'm looking forward to seeing pictures!!
Oh...and yes...Pralines!!! Most definitely...Pralines!!
