Sweet Summertime

My favorite thing
about summer is
pool parties.

We have one
most weekends at our house
and it is always a blast.

People are more relaxed
the mood is easy
and it is just so much fun.

The house we live in
has its problems,
things we would change.

We would add another bedroom
and another full bath.

The electrical system is screwy
and every month or so
it seems something is breaking down.

But when it comes to summer
all that is forgotten
when the pool is full
of laughing, screaming children
doing cannonballs.

Then I never, ever want to leave.
