We're in a Happy Place

I am happy.

It's a wonderful thing to be able to say that
and I'm not sure that I stop to think it or say it often enough.
I have a tendency to just float blithely along
and then when things aren't so good, I have plenty to say about it.

Today I am making a conscious decision to make note
that in November of 2010,
things are really, really good.

Kate is in her sophomore year of high school and doing really well.
She's active and involved and happy. She has nice friends,
has her head on straight, is clearheaded and is doing well in her academics.
She is not an unpleasant teen and is generally nice to her brothers.
For a fifteen year old daughter, she is so much better than I dreamed she would be.

Chris is in sixth grade and absolutely rocking it.
It isn't just his grades- we expected him to do well since we kept him back this year.
It is in his demeanor and his confidence and his renewed smile and easygoing nature.
He is learning a new instrument (French Horn), plays basketball every morning before school
and enjoys his peers both at school and at church.
He just finished Fall Baseball and will be starting Upward Basketball shortly.

Trey is also doing better than I could have imagined.
He has embraced the screen time limits I imposed
and he is undoubtedly so much better for it.
He and Chris spend a lot of time outside
and he also is spending time building, drawing and even reading.
Both he and Chris pack their lunches daily now
and Trey is really good about doing his homework independently
and without being told.
He is taking the Bass for Orchestra and puts forth good effort.

Rob just moved offices within his local office for his Firm,
which is a great opportunity.
He still commutes to work three days a week for now
but it is a schedule we have all grown accustomed to.
I use the nights he is gone to do meals he doesn't like
or breakfast dinners or leftover smorgasbords.

I'm happy because I am blessed, because my family is operating smoothly and well.
As soon as we get this gas line in place, I will be really excited!
Holiday prep is starting up
and it's one of my favorite times of year.

So there you go,
a happy post through and through.

I hope you are in a happy place too!

It is wonderful to take a few moments to recognise the good times! Thank you for sharing. Now what's this about a gas line?
