You Complete Me

Tonight Rob and I were tucking Trey in.

We were having a moment with him,
telling him how very proud we are of him
and the progress he is making with his reading.

"Trey," I murmured, "We are so happy we had you.
Our family wasn't complete without you."

"Yeah!" said Trey,
"and Chris would only be a half.
Chris and I are connected."

I love the love between these two boys.
Trey literally sees himself as Chris's completion,
as the half that makes Chris a whole.

How completely sweet is that?

It's really lovely when your kids have a relationship like that. Zane and Taylor are very connected and it makes me feel much calmer about their teen years.

That is so sweet! This is the kind of relationship I hope for my kids, even if it doesn't happen until they're a bit older.

It made me teary too, Cristina!

Now, I just have to remember he felt that way if (when) they get to that bickering age.

What a wonderful thing to hear as a parent! Now just make sure you remind him of this comment when they get older and start arguing about things!
