As my friend Lori shared,
the family of Steven Curtis Chapman
has suffered a tremendous tragedy and loss.

Their youngest daughter,
five year old Maria,
was killed when she was struck
in her driveway
by a vehicle driven by
the Chapman's teenage son.

Please pray for comfort for this family
and that the grief, guilt and pain of their son
will be eased and released.

In case you are not familiar with Steven Curtis Chapman,
here is a song of his, called Cinderella, that he wrote for his
two youngest daughters.
The lyrics are posted below.

Lyrics::
She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I'm sittin' here wearin' the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It's been a long day and there's still work to do,
She's pulling at me saying "Dad I need you!
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I'd approve of a dress
She says "Dad, the prom is just one week away,
And I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She will be gone.

Well, she came home today
With a ring on her hand
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says "Dad, the wedding's due six months away
And I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
(even one song)
Cuz all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

This is so heartbreaking! SCC has a special place in my heart since he's such a strong advocate for adoption and gives so generously to those whose families would not otherwise be able to manage the huge financial issues surrounding adoption. I simply cannot imagine the depth of pain their family is experiencing right now.

After I read this earlier, I had to go right out and do a search to read more about it. What a terrible, terrible tragedy for their family. My sister has loved his music for years--she'll be so sad, too. I can't even imagine their pain.

I just read about this on PerezHilton...he has posted one of the most precious videos of Steven and little Maria as they were washing dishes!!
I had never heard of him but...when it's daytime and the volume won't wake anyone up, I will come back and watch that video.
How sad...I pray for the family, but most of all for their son...can not imagine what he must be going through.
