In a World Where Hunger is the Root of all Evil

Trey comes to me this afternoon,
clutching his throat.

"Mom, I think I might have strep throat!"

"Well, let me take a look at it," I tell him.
I look at the offending throat with a flashlight.
It looks slightly red but I don't see any white.

"I don't think so, honey" I tell him,
"but we'll keep an eye on it."

"What're you doing?" asks Chris, as he passes through
the kitchen.

"I think I have strep throat" moans Trey
to his brother.

"Nah, you're just hungry, that's all,"
Chris says dismissively.

"Oh, okay!" says Trey, off in hot pursuit.

I remember the Strep throat years. It seems like we had a bout of it every year. Finally my kids grew out of it, thankfully.

LOL!! The wisdom of older brothers...

When Em was about 3, she started not walking. For three days she claimed her leg hurt and she crawled around the house. Finally I took her to the dr., who sent me to the ER for x-rays, who sent us to an orthopedist. No one could find anything wrong, but still she didn't walk. Exhausted, I drove to my mom's to pick up Daniel. She put an Ace bandage on her leg and within 5 minutes that little so-and-so was running happily through the house!

I'm thinking that this very reason is why I am about 15 pounds (give or take a few) overweight.
Headache? no just hungry.
Cramps? again...hungry.
In-grown toenail....yep, hungry again!!
